Welcome Parents, Guardians and Prospective AVID Students!
Hello Parents and Guardians! Your student was recommended for the AVID program by their teachers! Please review this information with your student, so together you can decide if he or she should proceed in applying to AVID! It's important to go over this together so that you can make the best decision for your student's success. |
On March 12th, your student went to an introductory event to learn about Pine Grove's AVID program. Students were invited to this event because their teachers believed that they might benefit from participation in the AVID program at PGMS.
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a system designed to ensure that students are prepared to enroll in and succeed at four-year colleges and universities. Part of that system is the AVID Elective Class, which is offered to 7th and 8th grade students at PGMS. Students selected to participate in the AVID Elective Course will have an opportunity to learn organizational and study skills, work on critical thinking and asking probing questions, and participate in enrichment activities to enhance a college ready mindset. |
